Snapshot: London
In total, we’re spending 6 weeks (oh yeah!) in London. It’s our new home before moving to New York City, where we make the British capital our base for more quick trips around Europe. Ah, the beauty of having a few months without obligations of being in any one place. It’s been amazing to have the freedom to roam around and travel like we’re rock stars. And for these couple of days, we explored like true visitors, taking in the must-see sights, having proper tea, grabbing a pint (or two), and learning what it means to nearly lose your life to crazy drivers (honestly… look both ways, several times… here, pedestrians are low on the totem pole).
Highlights are undoubtedly the Borough Market, where you can buy fresh fruits and veggies from local farmers, hot-off-the-grill eats, preserves, cured meats… you name it, it’s there, and the air just buzzes with excitement. Also, I’m not much of a beer drinker, but I do enjoy a good cider. Cider’s a big thing here, and there are often more than a few choices at the neighborhood pubs, which are not difficult to find, with something like 2,500 (or more) of the classic bar/eateries in London alone.
Seeing the world-famous Big Ben and the Tower Bridge just reminds me that this is one of the greatest cities in the world, and it’s a genuine pleasure to spend time here.
